Mohonk Preserve Unclothed Trail and Naked Sunbathing At Split Rock

While we still have some beautiful fall days left, I needed to share a clothing-optional spot to go where you may also get your outdoor / autumn leaves fix! http://safari-motors.com/__media__/js/netsoltrademark.php?d=nudism.name 's about one hour and half drive from NYC.
We went there on a sunny day in August.
The area we went to is a clothes-optional section on the Coxing Trail. It was full upon our day arrival so instead we parked at the West Trapps trail head. This is a longer manners away (approx 30 minutes), but a pleasant hike anyhow! It is a relatively easy hike, but sneakers are recommended. The trail runs along a stream called Coxing Kill, and first you pass through the clothing-mandatory component, along with a popular place called Split Rock.

And you can remove all clothing and be as freely unclothed as the wildlife![There is so unfortunately no established name for this particular area. Many refer to it as Split Rock, although that is the name of the textile section. More with this later.] A little further down we found the area where people (mostly men on this day) hang out on the flat stone relaxing out in seats or on towels. http://lysienie.com/__media__/js/netsoltrademark.php?d=voy-zone.com is in the centre of the woods so there's a blend of shade and sun. The stream of water proceeds steadily around the rock, creating pools and little waterfalls. So pretty and peaceful!
The area is thick with trees and plenty of natural vegetation for the perceptions to feast on. Check out these orange mushrooms I seen and a butterfly in movement!

Soon after our visit, I wrote to the Mohonk Preserve to inquire why there isn't any info on their website about this clothing-optional area. Their answer:

"Within an effort to accommodate a diverse population of visitors, the clothing-optional area on the Coxing Kill stream is a long standing tradition at the Mohonk Preserve. Only a tiny fraction of our visitors make the most of this place.
Over the years we have had to manage a specific amount of conflict between a large proportion of our visitors and the group utilizing the clothes-optional area. Many of our members and visitors usually do not feel that this really is an appropriate use of our landscape since it has the potential for bringing families with kids into contact with people in the clothes-optional area.
Families have expressed to us their distress with this exposure (pun intended) and believe that this place of the Preserve becomes, de facto, off limits to them. Because we try to balance chances for all to love our lands, we don't publicize the clothes-optional area on the Coxing Stream."

Sounds like they ran into a bit of controversy and some furious parents. The normal "What about the kids!" crap. Thank you, MP, for determining that a designated clothing-optional area is proper.
Now to educate folks how straightforward nudity really does not damage children. You would think that with an area set aside, both groups would have the ability to peacefully coexist. The Preserve is enormous enough! I also don't believe these families understand how very few places there are to legally skinny dip outside in NY state.

Anyway, we haven't been back since August, but I Will wager it's friendly there this time of year! Anyone up for a clothing-optional hike this fall?
